Sharing the Gospel of God, along with ourselves

The Beliefs of First Baptist

First Baptist Church is a congregation of baptized believers in the Lord Jesus Christ that meet together in Mt. Vernon, IN.  The members of FBC seek to honor God and the Lord Jesus Christ through preaching and teaching the Bible, worshiping together, using our spiritual gifts, encouraging one another to live in obedience to God, and serving our neighbors in the community.  Most importantly, we desire to proclaim the good news about Jesus Christ to all those who do not know Him throughout our community and around the world.
A summary of our beliefs about God, Jesus Christ, the Bible, and a host of other topics is contained in the New Hampshire Baptist Confession (1853).  To read this document, click on the link below:

As a church that is in friendly cooperation with the Southern Baptist Convention, we also use the Baptist Faith and Message (2000) as a teaching tool.  This document addresses some pressing contemporary topics as well as basic doctrines:

Upon adoption of the Baptist Faith and Message by the Southern Baptist Convention, a group of professors at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary composed an explanation of this confession.  This explanation serves as a theological tutor and a devotional companion, showing what Southern Baptists believe to be "the faith that was delivered to the saints once for all" (Jude 1:3; HCSB) through the Bible.  To read this document, click on the link below:
